I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a concentration in criminal justice from Norfolk State University, a Master of Arts in Applied Sociology from St. John’s University, a teaching certificate from Old Dominion University, and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Criminal Justice from Nova Southeastern University.  Prior to serving as the current Interim Chair of the Sociology Department at Hampton University, I was the Legal Program Director at Bryant & Stratton College, the Director of the Fifth Judicial District Community Corrections Program, and Assistant Director of a Victim Witness Program. For over twenty years I have provided psychotherapy counseling services to teenage male sex offenders, at-risk African American males and their families. My research interest topics are community policing, African American males and the criminal justice system, and racial inequality.
