An adjunct professor in English, Darlene Taylor brings history and cultural activism to writing fiction. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Stonecoast at the University of Southern Maine and BA from American University in Washington, D.C. Her short stories and commentary appear in journals, magazines and anthologies. She serves as an advisory editor to the literary journal, Callaloo and boards of literary and cultural arts organizations. She has fellowships in fiction to Callaloo and Kimbilio, the National Museum of Women in the Arts and A Room of Her Own. A recipient of an American Association of University Women grant, her work aims to close gaps for women in creative writing. During a career in global communications, she led business storytelling, media outreach and awareness campaigns at Fortune 100 companies and national nonprofits.
