Captain Charles E. Jones IV is a Distinguished Military Graduate from Furman University, and was commissioned as an Engineer Officer through Army ROTC.
Following the completion of the Engineer Officer Basic Course , CPT Jones reported to the 11th Engineer Battalion, 36th Engineer Brigade at Fort Benning, Georgia. There, he served as a Combat Bridge Platoon Leader, Reconnaissance Platoon Leader, and Vertical Construction Company Executive Officer.
CPT Jones attended the 75th Ranger Regiment Assessment and Selection Program (RASP II) and upon completion was assigned to the 1st Ranger Battalion at Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia. CPT Jones served as the Battalion Engineer/Assistant S4, and as the Echo Company (FSC) Executive Officer. CPT Jones deployed three times as part of a Joint Task Force in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Upon completion of the Engineer Captain's Career Course, CPT Jones reported to the 2nd Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division where he served as the Battalion S3 Plans Officer. He commanded Juliet Company (FSC), 1st Battalion, 9th US Cavalry Regiment, where he deployed as part of a rotational unit to the Republic of Korea.
CPT Jones’ awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Global War On Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, and the NATO Medal. CPT Jones has earned the Combat Action Badge, Ranger Tab, Sapper Tab, Parachutist Badge and Italian Jump Wings.
CPT Jones is married to his wife Ashley and they have two children, Sadie Reece and Van Noth.
